Ratings & Comments on Notices

UKVillages has often been asked to provide a way for users to interact with each other. Giving feedback on events, groups and businesses is just one of the ways you can.

As with all UKVillages content, the person who puts the notice up is in charge of comment settings and management. Owners decide whether to allow comments only or comments with ratings. They can then decide if they want comments from everyone registered with UKVillages or just other local people.

If you put up a notice you can set these options when you add or edit a notice. See below for more information.

If you have a notice on UKVillages...

These instructions will work for all the noticeboards.

First thing to do is add (find out how here) or edit (find out how here) your notice.

On the form you will see a this question:

Tick 'Yes' - a new section of the form will appear. There are several options for you including who can add/view comments and how often you want to be notified of new comments.

When you are satisfied with your notice save it. Your notice will appear as it always has with the comments section added at the bottom. This is what people viewing your notice will see:

If you have a lot of information on your notice, don't worry, there is a sentence inviting people to add/read comments with the other links on your notice.

If you want to comment on a notice...

Only people registered to UKVillages can add comments. Additionally, if the owner of the notice decides not to turn on comments or limits it to local people you will not be able to comment. Remember that even if you can't comment you can still contact the owner using their usual contact details as shown on the notice. You might ask them to switch on comments when you contact them.

If you are not logged in when you come to a notice there is a link to login quickly or to register (as a Friend) with UKVillages.

When you are allowed to add comments you'll see an 'Add your comment' link.

Please ensure you have read the Terms & Conditions of posting before saving your comments. The UKVillages Leaves ratings are optional, but the owner would appreciate your feedback!

When you have completed your comments click the 'Save Your Comment' button. Your comment will appear immediately. If you post a comment that violates the Terms & Conditions of posting you could be barred from commenting.
